Global law firm Ashurst has advised Intermodal Terminal Company (ITC), on its plans to build and operate a $400 million intermodal terminal in Somerton, Melbourne.

ITC, owned by Aware Super, is a new investment platform targeting the acquisition, construction and operation of an independent network of intermodal terminals. The planned terminal is set to be completed in 2025 and will be Australia's largest intermodal terminal.

Transport and Infrastructure Partner Alex Guy said:

"We are delighted to have worked with the ITC and Aware Super teams to help deliver this exciting project. The project is expected to take 500,000 truck trips off Melbourne’s roads, saving 451 million litres of fuel and reducing carbon emissions by 189,000 tonnes per year."

The Ashurst team was led by Alex Guy, who was assisted by: partner Nigel Deed (Corporate Transactions); partner Arthur Chong and counsel Rebecca Hall (Real Estate) and senior associate Eloise Moore (Transport and Infrastructure).
