Ashurst advises UK Government on legislation to safeguard UK steelmaking
Global law firm Ashurst is advising the Department for Business and Trade on the development of the Steel Industry (Nationalisation) Bill.
The legislation, announced in the King's Speech, would give the UK Government the power to bring steel undertakings into public ownership, if a public interest test is met.
The UK Government's press release is available here and the Bill is available here.
The cross-disciplinary Ashurst team working on the legislation and connected matters is being led by restructuring and special situations partner Richard Bulmore, with support from teams led by partners Callum McPherson and Eleanor Reeves.
