Dale Gill is a partner in our projects & energy transition practice

Dale supports clients with the structuring, development, financing, operation, acquisition and disposal of conventional energy, renewables (solar, wind and hydro), energy storage (batteries and pumped hydro), hybrid power system, hydrogen, biofuel, circular economy and other low emissions projects.

His experience extends to all aspects of the project development lifecycle, including project structuring, joint development and development services structures, due diligence, energy regulation, connection, lateral infrastructure (gas, water, electricity), retail, energy procurement, PPA/offtake and hedging arrangements (physical, financial and synthetic) and other major commercial contracts.

Dale's recent projects experience includes advising Lightsource bp on the development of Woolooga BESS (co-located with existing solar farm) and Lower Wonga Hybrid Solar / BESS projects; Shell Energy on Wallerawang 9 BESS (at repurposed coal fired power station site); Carbon Logica on the development of the Ironbark Mine waste coal mine gas project (the first project since the safeguard mechanism was introduced); AMPYR Australia on Bulabul BESS (formerly Wellington BESS), several mining clients on the development of remote hybrid solar/wind/BESS/conventional energy (gas / diesel) power systems and ACE Power on its portfolio of Solar, BESS, Hybrid Solar / BESS projects in Kerang and Yabulu.

Dale has also led on a number of "first -of-a-kind" PPA / offtake transactions. His recent experience includes advising Vena Energy on its A$200 million revenue share agreement with InCommodities for their Bellambi Heights BESS; Snowy Hydro on its two virtual tolling agreements (VTA) with Elaine BESS (the largest 4 hour VTA) and Golden Plains BESS; Akaysha Energy on its innovative offtake arrangements for Orana BESS (the first banked VTA (layered with a firming LTESA)); various bidders on all forms of government support contracts (VRET, NSW LTESA, CISA (NEM and WEM) and SA FIRMA (and REZ access rights)), including successful bids for Lightsource bp, Akaysha Energy and Ark Energy (twice); and Rio Tinto on their renewable energy procurement process in Queensland, including their PPA with the Bungaban wind farm (Qld) - the largest corporate renewables PPA in Australia history at the time.

Dale also has significant "in-house" experience, having completed secondments with "gentailers" AGL and CS Energy in Australia and having worked for Lightsource bp and UK Power Networks in Europe.
