The projects to win the awards on which Ashurst advised were:

    • Project Lightning, which was named Power Deal of the Year—Transmission. A team led by partners Luke Robottom and Matthew Wood advised ADNOC on the successful financial closing of a US$3.8 billion strategic project to power and significantly decarbonize ADNOC’s offshore production operations.
    • Zayed City Schools PPP, which won the Social Infrastructure Deal of the Year. Partner Simon Moore led the team advising the BESIX–Plenary Group consortium in relation to the Zayed City Schools PPP project in Abu Dhabi – the UAE's first school infrastructure public-private partnership, expected to form an important precedent for future PPP social infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi.

Project Lightning also won Middle East & Africa Power Deal of the Year at the PFI Awards in December 2022.

David Charlier, Global Co-Head for International Projects and Middle East Managing Partner, said: "It is brilliant to be recognised by IJGlobal in what is a real testament to the continued dynamic support we give our clients as we undertake deals across a broad spectrum of sectors."
