The award recognises the strength of Ashurst's leading Middle East corporate practice, and the team's strength in the energy and infrastructure sectors. In particular, the award recognises the team's work advising ADNOC on its landmark US$20.7 billion energy infrastructure deal. The deal, which saw a consortium comprising Global Infrastructure Partners, Brookfield, GIC, OTPP, NH Investment & Securities and Snam invest in select ADNOC gas pipeline assets valued at US$20.7 billion, is the single largest infrastructure investment in the Middle East, and one of the largest global energy infrastructure transactions in 2020. That deal was led by Abu Dhabi based partners Stuart James and Luke Robottom, and involved a team of supporting specialists from around the firm's global network.

David Charlier, Ashurst's Middle East Managing Partner, commented:

"We are delighted to have won this award, it is a testament to the whole team's hard work and reflects the breadth and quality of our Middle East offering. It is a great honour to be acknowledged for our expertise and we look forward to continuing to advise on some of the most complex and innovative deals in the market."

Simon Fraser, Head of Corporate Middle East, added:

"This has been an outstanding year for our corporate practice in the Middle East, during which we have advised market-leading clients on transactions involving more than US$50 billion. Our team continues to go from strength to strength in the region, supporting our key clients on their most significant and market defining transactions, and operating at the leading edge of the market."
