Ashurst announces the launch of its LGBT Allies programme.

LGBT Allies are people who, irrespective of their own sexual orientation, recognise the importance of acceptance and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) colleagues in the workplace and in the wider community and who actively articulate their support.

The support Allies provide can take many forms, including advocating for changes in law, attending and encouraging attendance to LGBT events, challenging prejudice where they find it and offering ongoing support and advice to LGBT colleagues. All Allies recognise the importance of equality, fairness, acceptance and respect and share a common desire to create an inclusive environment for LGBT people.

The programme expands the scope of the firm's existing LGBT network, Spectrum, and increases collaboration, ensuring that whether members of the firm identify as LGBT or not, they feel equally valued and valuable as colleagues.

Anna Delgado, partner and ambassador for the Ashurst LGBT Allies Programme, said:

"Diversity and Inclusion are crucial in making Ashurst a great place to work and essential to our success and client delivery. Having had the opportunity to be involved in LGBT Ally programmes with some of our major clients, I am confident that a workplace where people feel they can be honest and open about their private lives is happier and more productive. I am proud to be an LGBT Ally and very excited to be part of Ashurst's Allies programme."
