Ashurst has advised Octopus Energy Generation on its joint investment with ZE Energy in the Sessa Aurunca battery storage project in Campania, Italy – one of the country's largest standalone battery projects.

The project, developed by ZE Energy, an independent renewable power producer and European battery storage specialist, has a capacity of 98.5 MW and will store enough electricity to meet the daily needs of around 130,000 Italian homes. Once operational, it will become the largest standalone battery in south-central Italy.

Octopus Energy Generation's investment was made on behalf of the Sky fund (ORI SCSp).

The Ashurst team advising Octopus Energy Generation was led by Charles-Douglas Fuz (Partner, Corporate/M&A, Paris), with support from Andrea Di Rosa (Counsel, Corporate/M&A, Milan). Annamaria Pinzuti (Partner, Milan), Elena Giuffrè (Partner, Milan), and Francesca Sala (Associate, Milan) advised on projects and energy matters, while Christophe Lemaire (Partner, Paris) and Morgane Gloaguen (Associate, Paris) handled the competition aspects of the transaction.
