María José Menéndez is head of corporate for CEMEA
María José specialises in corporate and commercial law, particularly in M&A, joint ventures and commercial contracts. She also has wide-ranging experience in the financial institutions and insurance sectors as well as in commercial arbitration.
She is one of the best-known lawyers in the insurance industry in Spain, having advised on most of the main projects and transactions in the past 15 years, including bancassurance agreements and disputes, as well as M&A transactions, and advising insurance undertakings, as well as insurance intermediaries and pension fund management companies on corporate and regulatory matters.
María José is also experienced in domestic and international arbitration. She is Vicepresident of the Spanish Arbitration Club ("Club Español de Arbitraje"), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), member of the Board of Directors for Spain of the International Law Association (ILA) and Member of the Plenary of the Madrid Arbitration Court.
