Chris Baker is a partner who plays a key role in Ashurst’s risk practice by leveraging his expertise in providing strategic advice to the C suite and Boards across operational, compliance, conduct, regulatory, and strategic execution risk.

As a leader in Ashurst's Integrated Solutions and Managed Services, Chris has co-created:

· Obligation Management Solution (OMS) to assist clients with navigating the complex compliance landscape, adapt to regulatory changes, and strive for compliance excellence;
· the Breach Reporting Managed Service to enable financial services clients to efficiently and effectively leverage automation to manage the reportable situation regime; and
· a Document Review and Production Service to respond to regulatory investigations and complete discovery.

Additionally, Chris has over 30 years of experience and a strong track record in resolving complex regulatory, conduct, compliance, and risk related matters, including the large-scale remediation of customers and responses to ongoing regulatory investigations resulting from issues examined at the Royal Commission into misconduct in financial services for one of Australia’s leading wealth management providers.

Chris is also experienced in working across government, regulators, and industry bodies in the shaping of financial services policy and regulation to improve client outcomes and reduce the cost and complexity of implementation.

To complement his accomplished risk and compliance expertise, Chris has deep expertise in the field of project and programme management and is a member of the University of Sydney Project Management Program Advisory Group, the Global Alliance for Project Performance Standards (Thought Leadership Group), and a former director of the Project Management Institute’s NSW chapter.
