Alfred specialises in advising on project financing transactions, particularly in the renewables, conventional power, infrastructure, oil & gas and petrochemicals sectors.
He regularly acts for both sponsors and lenders (including commercial lenders, export-credit agencies, multilaterals and development finance institutions) on such projects, and has developed a reputation for providing practical and commercially-minded advice in order to help clients find effective and efficient solutions to complex issues in challenging jurisdictions.
Alfred's practice is focussed on Southeast Asia and South Asia, and he has worked on numerous projects in Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Pakistan in particular, as well as in India, Nepal, Laos and Myanmar.
Alfred also has significant experience in advising on leveraged and acquisition financings, particularly where there is an energy/infrastructure component; specialised upstream reserve-based financings; and various forms of Islamic financing (including on multi-source ECA and DFI financings with an Islamic financing tranche).
Recent representative experience includes advising: the international commercial lenders on the development and financing of two solar PV projects in Indonesia; the international commercial lenders on a reserve-based loan for the acquisition of a gas asset in the Philippines; the international and local DFI and multilateral lenders on the financing of a HFO power project in Bangladesh; and the international and local lenders (DFI and commercial lenders) on the portfolio financing of three wind power projects in Pakistan.
Alfred is qualified in England and Wales, and has been recognised by IFLR1000, Law360 for his expertise, including as Law 360's Project Finance MVP of the Year for 2017.
