International law firm Ashurst will be taking part in the FCA's AML & Financial Crime International TechSprint, being held on 22 – 24 May in London.

The event will bring together over 200 developers, subject matter experts and senior executives, as well as international regulators to develop prototype solutions, which demonstrate the role new technologies and increased industry and international collaboration can play in tackling money laundering and criminal finance.

The fifth and largest of its kind, the TechSprint will serve to increase understanding of the challenges, and deepen international and cross industry dialogue around the role of modern technology in tackling money laundering and criminal finance.

Commenting, David Futter, partner in Ashurst's digital economy practice, said:

"We are delighted to have been invited to take part in this year's TechSprint, and to support the FCA in exploring how new technologies, like artificial intelligence, can be used to fight and prevent financial crime more effectively.  With firms increasing their digital DNA, getting the technology right to enable regulatory compliance remains a key challenge for the financial services industry. Importantly this shows why the FCA continues to be seen as leading the pack in devising new ways to facilitate the advance of the Fintech sector."
