Ashurst Lunchtime Series Hear from competition law enforcer Winnie Ching

    We have invited Director for Legal & Enforcement of the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS), Winnie Ching to speak about the role of the CCCS, its recent high profile cases including the Singapore F1 electrical services and asset tagging services bid-rigging case, the capacitors case that resulted in penalties of over $19 million and its work in digital platforms and markets more generally.  She will also briefly cover the CCCS' new consumer law enforcement role.

    This session will be moderated by Competition Partner, Bill Reid.

    About the speakers 

    Winnie Ching is currently the Director for Legal & Enforcement at the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS). In her role, she is responsible for reviewing decisions of CCCS, supervising CCCS Competition Act investigations, assessing mergers and providing advice on legal and policy matters. Prior to joining CCCS, she worked at the UK Office of Fair Trading (now the Competition Markets Authority) as an Assistant Director of Litigation. Winnie has also worked in private practice and at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission as a Principal Investigator.

    Bill Reid is a partner and the head of Ashurst's Asia Pacific competition and consumer practice.  He is a pre-eminent competition and consumer lawyer in Australasia advising on major Australian and international mergers and joint ventures, access to infrastructure issues and competition and consumer protection litigation and has a long track record for achieving merger clearance across the Asia-Pacific region. Bill also has extensive experience advising on high profile competition investigations and compliance issues.
