UK Work experience
Access Ashurst offers Year 12 students across the UK the opportunity to learn more about a career in law through a programme of work shadowing, skills workshops and mentoring support. The programme aims to increase access to law for young people experiencing disadvantage.
Increasing access to a career in law for young people experiencing disadvantage
We believe that a young person’s success in life should be determined by how hard they work and the skills and talents they possess, rather than their background or family income. We work with a range of organisational partners across the UK to positively impact the lives of young people experiencing disadvantage.
Our commitment
We know that a diverse and inclusive workforce makes business sense but we also recognise that entering the legal profession isn’t easy, especially if you are the first person in your family to be considering a career in law.
Through our Access Ashurst programme, our London office provide up to 25 Year 12 students with access to a programme of work shadowing, skills workshops and mentoring support each year. The programme is based on the principles of PRIME and aims to increase access to law for young people experiencing disadvantage.
Whilst the programme is run from our London office, we encourage applications from students from the whole of the UK. We will cover full travel expenses for all of our students, but require that students who live more than 1.5 hours commute away from our London office stay with a suitable supervising adult (i.e. family member or family friend) for the duration of the programme. We will require your parent/guardian's written permission in this instance.
