Gender Equality

More than half of the lawyers we recruit to train globally are women, but only one quarter of our partners are female. We also see fewer women at the senior levels in our business support functions.

Our gender strategy, action plan and the events organised by our women's networks aim to address the issues which lead to this waste of talented people around the globe, actively supported by our leadership; our Managing Partner is the only law firm leader to be invited to join the Male Champions of Change programme in Australia, while our Chairman is a member of the 30% Club in the UK.

Since the last gender targets were set in 2013, we have significantly improved the gender balance of promotions to partnership and the proportion of female leaders. To ensure that we continue to make progress, the Board, in consultation with the Executive Team, has set new diversity and inclusion targets to be achieved by financial year 2022.

The targets comprise:

  • 33% of the global partnership to be female - currently 24%
  • 30% of legal management / leadership roles to be held by women - currently 23%, with 30% of the global Board now female
  • 50% of senior business services roles to be held by women - currently 33%

We have women's networks across Australia, Asia, the United States and in the United Kingdom - details with contact names as below:

We have four gender champions who sit on our global diversity & inclusion advisory group based in Brisbane, London, Madrid and Singapore. Please see "Key Contacts" below for their details.
