Ashurst's German banking and finance team has been named "TOP Law Firm 2022" by Wirtschaftswoche in its latest ranking for banking and finance law. Anne Grewlich and Dr Matthias Weissinger have also been recommended as "TOP Lawyer 2022", making them two of the 35 most renowned lawyers for banking and finance law.
The Handelsblatt Research Institute interviewed more than 1,600 lawyers from 123 law firms to find the most renowned law firms and lawyers in the field of banking and finance law and capital markets law. A jury of experts reviewed and analysed the ranked lawyers. According to the jury's evaluation, 21 law firms with 35 lawyers for banking and finance law prevailed.
Ashurst's German banking and finance practice advises both banks and alternative lenders, private equity investors and companies on domestic and cross-border acquisition, real estate, asset and infrastructure / project finance as well as on financial restructuring and corporate lending.
Anne Grewlich is a partner in our finance department and heads the German global loans team. She specifically advises in leveraged acquisition finance (leveraged buy-outs) and corporate lending transactions. She mainly represents financial institutions, debt funds as well as private equity funds and corporates.
Dr Matthias Weissinger, LL.M. (UPenn) is a partner and focuses on domestic and cross-border financings and restructurings. He advises in particular national and international financial institutions, debt funds, sponsors and corporate borrowers on leveraged buyouts, unitranche financings, bank/bond financings as well as corporate lending for large- and mid-cap companies. He has also broad experience in advising on complex debt restructurings, out-of-court solutions, insolvency proceedings and distressed M&A transactions.
