Global law firm Ashurst has hired tech and data expert Alexander Duisberg as a partner in the corporate practice in Munich to boost its thriving Digital Economy team.
Alexander has deep knowledge of clients operating in the digital economy, with 25 years' experience advising clients on tech, data and the structuring and regulation of the digital economy. He has a particular focus on the automotive & mobility, Industry 4.0, technology and healthcare sectors, as well as the finance and insurance industries, where he specialises in digital transformation projects and data-driven business models, advising on the legal aspects of blockchain, cyber-security, data spaces, AI, connected driving and innovative mobility concepts, amongst others. He is known as a thought leader for the digital economy, and has been regularly invited to government initiatives and think tanks that contribute to the law making process for the EU Digital Strategy.
"We are pleased to welcome Alexander to our leading global corporate practice. His skillset will fuel continued momentum in our transactional business and I am confident that he will thrive on our platform", Jorge Vázquez, Ashurst Global Co-Head of Corporate, said.
Germany Managing Partner, Derk Opitz, added that his hire will further solidify the firm's Munich office as well as the wider German practice: "We are delighted Alexander is joining us. His arrival, which follows that of partner Martin Eimer, who joined the Munich dispute resolution practice in May, is consistent with our sustained focus on investing in our German practice and allows us to further develop our digital economy offering in Germany."
"The digital economy and helping our clients deal with the challenges of digital transformation are areas of key strategic focus for Ashurst, across our geographies and practice areas. Alexander is a hugely valuable addition to our team as we expand in mainland Europe", said Nick Elverston, Co-Head of the Digital Economy practice.
Alexander commented: "Ashurst's strong footing in corporate and finance, as well as its prominent capability in the telecoms, tech and data sector, makes it an ideal and appealing platform for my future practice. I am looking forward to working with the team to dynamically build out its Digital Economy practice."
Ashurst's German corporate team recently advised 1&1 Mobilfunk GmbH, a subsidiary of 1&1 AG, on the conclusion of a framework contract with ATC Germany Holdings GmbH, the German subsidiary of American Tower Corporation, for the rollout of 1&1's mobile network.
