Ashurst advises UK Government on its efforts to safeguard the future of British Steel and its £500 million support package for Port Talbot steelworks

Global law firm Ashurst is advising the UK Government on its efforts to help safeguard the future of British Steel.
Ashurst has also been advising the UK Government on its agreement with Tata Steel to invest in Port Talbot by providing a grant worth up to £500 million for a new Electric Arc Furnace for greener steel production. Tata Steel will add a further £750 million, bringing the total investment to £1.25 billion.
The Ashurst team is led by partners Callum McPherson and Richard Bulmore, supported by a team including James Riseam and Daniel Smith, and with further advice from Eleanor Reeves, James Nierinck, Donald Slater, Edward McNeill, Jessica Bracker, Mark Spinney, Olga Galazoula, Inga West, Sarah Alton and Julius Perrin. Advice on certain Dutch law aspects is being provided by a team led by Saskia Heumakers at NautaDutilh.
