Tom specialises in complex and high-profile financing transactions in emerging and frontier markets, including francophone Africa. He has extensive experience in project finance, structured commodity and trade finance, export finance, sovereign debt and upstream oil & gas, as well as advising on special situations.

He regularly works across Africa, the Middle East and the CEE regions, and works with counterparties ranging from banks and funds through to sovereigns, multilaterals, oil majors and major global commodity traders. He is well known in particular for his work on political risk guarantees and ECA financing. He is also a recognised expert in complex commodity forward sale and prepayment arrangements, and the various mechanisms used to syndicate these exposures.

Tom has advised on credit support and guarantee transactions involving all of the major multilateral financial institutions. His experience extends to both wholly- and partially-guaranteed transactions and insurance, in a variety of transactions from bank debt through to bonds, derivatives and long-term power purchase agreements. He has significant experience in trade instruments and commodity finance and often speaks and presents at major industry conferences.

He is recognised for his expertise by IFLR1000 and Legal 500, and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales and an Avocat au Barreau de Paris.
