Tom Edwards

Tom Edwards is a senior associate in our projects and energy transition practice

Tom represents clients in the energy sector focusing on major projects, high-value commercial transactions, and international M&A, with a particular focus on the Oil & Gas industry. His experience spans acquisitions and divestments at both corporate and asset level, farm-ins, exploration and production, field development, and integrated gas project developments across the value chain.

Tom acts for governments, national oil companies, supermajors, independents, and utilities conducting business in diverse jurisdictions across the globe and has advised on projects and transactions in the UK North Sea, Africa, the Middle East, Russia and Central Asia, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.

Tom regularly advises the owners and operators of upstream and midstream assets throughout the field life-cycle on matters relating to: granting instruments (including licence and concession models, production sharing agreements and risk service contracts); joint venturing; exploration and production activities; field development and decommissioning; as well as hydrocarbon lifting, transportation, processing, and sales arrangements. Tom also advises on the procurement of drilling and other oilfield services.

In recent years, Tom has expanded his practice into the resources and petrochemicals sectors, advising project sponsors on significant green- and brownfield petrochemical projects in the Middle East and Russia.

Tom is qualified and admitted to practice the laws of England & Wales, and joined Ashurst in Abu Dhabi from the London office of another major international law firm, having practiced previously in Aberdeen and as a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore.
