Terri Mottershead is the global director for digital enablement for ashurst advance
Terri leads the Ashurst Advance Digital Enablement team and brings more than three decades of experience in private practice, pracacademia, consulting and senior leadership roles in Australia, Asia, and the United States to her work at the firm. Her career spans multiple regions, firms, and organisations, where she has led multidisciplinary teams, delivered cross‑border initiatives, and built a global community of lawyers, legal AI, technology, and innovation professionals spanning more than 120 countries.
This breadth of experience underpins her thought leadership on the future of legal practice—particularly how emerging technologies, including AI, are reshaping the legal ecosystem, and creating new opportunities for people, firms, and organisations to thrive. It has also led to global recognition: in 2024 she was named one of five International Legal Technology Association Influential Women in Tech honorees, and in 2025 she was recognised as an Inspiring Women in Commerce & Contracting Program awardee. Terri serves as the inaugural Chair of the Queensland Law Society’s AI in Legal Practice Consulting Committee.
Her focus at Ashurst Advance is on making change practical and meaningful—helping individuals, teams, and the firm build the digital and data capabilities needed to anticipate changes in the legal industry, bring fresh insights to the firm, and deliver work that is tailored to each client.
