Shishir Mehta is the head of our India practice group
Shishir is the Head of Ashurst's India Practice and is based in our London office. He represents a wide range of international and Indian clients on cross-border matters relating to India and his core practice includes advising on financing transactions for banks, companies, sponsors and promoters and general corporate/commercial matters.
Shishir has been consistently listed as a recognized banking lawyer in India since 2011 by Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific, Legal 500, Who's Who Legal, Asia Law and ILFR1000 and has previously been described as "bridging the gap between Western and Indian parties excellently", "providing responsive and succinct advise, both of which are critical to cross-border deals", "highly focused on the commercial impact of legal issues and guidance on international issues" and "having good commitment and thorough knowledge base".
Shishir has been an equity partner at Khaitan & Co in Mumbai for over a decade and has worked at leading international law firms in London and New York in the formative part of his career. He is admitted to practice law in India, England & Wales and New York and is a graduate of NLSIU Bangalore, Columbia Law School and the London School of Economics.
