Sergei Ostrovsky

Sergei has been practising English corporate law for more than 20 years, most recently as a partner in our corporate practice.

Sergei is a UK-qualified transactional corporate lawyer based in London. He is bilingual in English and Russian.

Sergei specialises in corporate finance and M&A transactions with a strong focus on emerging and frontier markets. He has acted for issuers and shareholders on several successful London IPOs, both Main Market and AIM. He has also advised on international private equity and debt investments, complex cross-border joint ventures and shareholder arrangements.

Geography of jurisdictions where Sergei has had first-hand experience and developed trusted relationships with local counsel include most of the former Soviet Union, such as Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia and the Caucuses.

Since 2014, Sergei has developed particular expertise in the area of international sanctions related to Russia, not only from the compliance and regulatory perspective but also in the transactional context. Over the years he also has advised clients in relation to several significant disputes in Russia and internationally.

Since 2016, Sergei has been a member of the International Committee of the Law Society of England and Wales.
