Nigel Parr chairs the Ashurst antitrust, regulatory and trade department. Admitted in Ireland and England & Wales, Nigel specialises in all aspects of UK and EU competition law, including mergers, strategic business advice and competition risk management, cartel and abuse of dominance cases, market/sector investigations, appeals and competition litigation.
He is recognised in the Legal 500's Hall of Fame, and ranked in Band 1 of the Chambers Directory; he has previously been identified by Chambers 100 as the leading UK antitrust practitioner, as well as being ranked 16 out of the top 100 UK business lawyers. He is a long-standing member of the Competition Law Committee of the City of London Law Society, a member of the Joint Working Party of the Bar and the Law Society on Competition Law, a non-Governmental adviser to the International Competition Network (appointed by the CMA) and a former trustee of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. He is also the co-author of "UK Merger Control: Law and Practice" (2016, 3rd edition published by Sweet & Maxwell), the leading book on UK Merger Control, as well as numerous other articles and book chapters on competition law.
