Nicole is a multilingual lawyer, international development professional and social justice practitioner with 15 years of experience designing and managing projects, leading teams and advising clients including Australian Aid (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), the United Nations (UN Human Rights, UNDP, UN Women and UN Refugees) and legal sector actors across Australia, the Indo-Pacific and the Americas.
At Ashurst, Nicole set-up and jointly runs (alongside Emma Minimbi) Ashurst's award-winning Blue Pacific Pro Bono Practice. Our Blue Pacific Pro Bono Practice won the 2023 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards (APAC) for Innovation in Responsible Business as well as the IJGlobal ESG Legal Adviser Pro-Bono, APAC Award. Nicole also oversees Ashurst's pro bono legal services across Asia as well as Ashurst's climate change and refugee-related pro bono assistance across Asia Pacific.
Nicole is a qualified lawyer in Australia (QLD), holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Laws) from The University of Sydney, and Master of International Development from the Australian National University. She has published extensively on human rights and international law in book chapters and peer-reviewed academic journals.
