Ismail is a Senior Associate in the Restructuring, Insolvency and Special Situations practice in our Singapore office.
His main areas of practice are restructuring and insolvency, and special situation financings with a focus on formal and out-of-court restructurings and special situations deals.
Ismail regularly advises debtors and creditors on restructurings and related transactions where debt and transaction values approach or were in the billions of dollars. When restructurings move into liquidations or formal court processes, Ismail has advised insolvency officers such as liquidators and judicial managers.
He also frequently advises debtors, key lenders, and investors on restructurings and special situations deals that have been primarily dealt with out-of-court. This includes advising on restructuring and insolvency aspects of complex and/or cross-border transactions.
Ismail is consistently recognised and recommended in the field of restructuring and insolvency. He is among the youngest practitioners recognised in IFLR1000 as "Highly Regarded" and is also ranked as a "Notable Practitioner" by Asialaw.
Ismail graduated from Singapore Management University (LL.B., Hons.) and is qualified in Singapore. Prior to joining Ashurst, Ismail worked at a premier Southeast Asia-based law firm.
