Dr. Martin Kaiser, LL.M. is a partner in the finance department and heads the European securitisation team
He specializes in securitisations and focuses on the true sale securitisation of loan, lease and trade receivables, both listed public transactions as well as ABCP programs and bespoke private transactions, e.g. NPLs. His expertise also includes aspects of German and European regulatory law related to securitisations.
Martin Kaiser advises leading German and international banks, service providers (such as corporate service providers and trustees), leasing companies, car manufacturers and other corporates.
Martin Kaiser studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany from 1993 to 1998 and at the C.E.U. San Pablo in Valencia (Spain) on an ERASMUS scholarship from 1995-1996. After his legal clerkship in Rhineland-Palatinate, Frankfurt am Main and Barcelona, he completed a Master of Law (LL.M.) at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, USA) from 2001-2002 and received his doctorate in Heidelberg in 2006 on a corporate law topic. He is listed as a leading expert on securitisations in the relevant rankings (including Chambers, Legal 500, JUVE), regularly lectures on securitisations and related regulatory issues and publishes articles in the specialised press. He speaks German, English and Spanish.
Before joining Ashurst in 2017, Martin Kaiser was a partner at Baker McKenzie in Frankfurt am Main, where he was head of the Banking & Finance Practice Group in Germany and Austria.
