John Kim is the head of the Korea practice group and a partner in our corporate and M&A practice
John specialises in advising Korean and multinational clients in relation to cross-border M&A and other corporate transactions.
He has worked on many of the largest and most significant cross-border corporate / M&A matters for multinational and Korean clients. He has been repeatedly recognised as one of Korea's leading practitioners in the corporate / M&A area. John has broad experience spanning a variety of industry sectors, including financial services, healthcare, energy, telecommunications, retail, general industrial and automotive.
John is ranked Band 1 by Chambers Global.
He also has wide-ranging experience in international dispute and investigation matters, advising Korean and multinational clients and is one of the best-known lawyers in the industry in Korea, having advised on multi-billion dollar international dispute and investigation matters.
He previously worked in the New York office of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Following his experience in New York, he worked for many years at Kim & Chang and Yulchon, respectively, in Korea.
John is a partner of Ashurst LLP and a registered foreign consultant (New York) based in Hong Kong.
