Ashurst strengthens its German Corporate Practice by appointing Gerrit Clasen as a partner

    Ashurst has promoted German lawyer and counsel Dr. Gerrit Clasen to partner, with effect from 1 May 2019. The German partnership now consists of 22 lawyers.

    Dr. Gerrit Clasen (46) joined Ashurst as an associate in 2005. He is a corporate lawyer and has vast expertise in advising listed companies, investors and investment banks on stock corporation law, corporate governance related matters, public takeovers and capital markets transactions as well as the preparation and execution of shareholder meetings. Dr. Gerrit Clasen also advises companies on all aspects of corporate law in particular supporting companies with the structuring and execution of structural measures such as conversions, spin offs and company agreements. 

    Dr. Gerrit Clasen is the sixth partner in the German corporate group alongside Dr. Thomas Sacher, Reinhard Eyring, Dr. Benedikt von Schorlemer, Jan Krekeler and Matthias von Oppen.

    Overall, Ashurst has promoted 21 partners across nine offices and 10 practices, with 48% in Asia Pacific and 52% in Europe. By country, nine of the new partners are in Australia, eight in the UK, and one in each of Germany, France, Hong Kong and UAE. 52% of the partners promoted this year are female.
