Ashurst announces the appointment of Robert Andrews as partner in its finance division focusing on funds financing.

Robert joins from King & Wood Mallesons, where he was partner specialising in funds finance acting for leading financial institutions and private equity funds. He is one of the most experienced funds finance lawyers in Europe.

Commenting, Head, Bank Industry, Lee Doyle said:

"We are very excited to welcome Robert to the team. Funds financing is a market with excellent growth potential, and is becoming a popular stream of business for financial institutions in Europe, the US and increasingly in Asia. Rob is one of Europe's few recognised funds finance experts and his appointment will provide us with the opportunity to become one of the pre-eminent fund financing practices and which will also benefit our other finance product areas.

Following the recent appointment of Dave Rome from RBS, this hire will further enhance and drive forward our existing corporate lending practice, instigating a platform change in our offering to the market."

    Robert Andrews added:

"Ashurst has a market-leading reputation in corporate lending and will provide an excellent platform from which to develop a funds finance practice. This is a growing market which has moved from straightforward bilateral, relationship based lending to larger, club based lending involving more complicated structures following the expansion of the funds finance market and the increasing complexity of fund formation. Ashurst has very ambitious plans for the investment grade/syndicated loan practice, and I look forward to helping realise them."
