Arjun is a leading independent European infrastructure asset manager. It follows a series of investments by Arjun in organic waste to renewable natural gas projects, which are being added to the asset manager's growing portfolio of renewable energy investments in Europe.

The Ashurst team was led by partners Alex Biles in London and Carloandrea Meacci in Milan. They were supported by senior associates Kavisha Bilimoria and Sarah Gant and associate Emma Bridger in London and partner Elena Giuffrè and associates Gianluca Di Stefano, Paolo Gallarà and Riccardo Rao in Milan. Partner Nick Stalbow and associate Crystal Yuen also assisted on the English law elements of the project agreements.

The Ashurst team worked alongside Loyens & Loeff, led by Martijn Schoonewille, who advised on the Dutch law elements of the financing.

    Alex Biles commented:

"We are delighted to have worked with the Arjun team on this notable transaction. The financing will support the development of a portfolio of projects in Italy and help realise Anaergia's commitment to creating new biogas facilities. The transaction also adds to the growing portfolio of renewable energy transactions managed by Arjun across Europe."

    Carloandrea Meacci commented:

"This deal is in line with the most innovative market trend in Italy both in terms of asset class, as we see a growing interest in biogas projects which we expect to continue also as a result of the EU Recovery Plan, and in terms of financial products, as we see the most sophisticated players using junior and mezzanine financing to optimise their capital structures."
