Global law firm Ashurst has hired Nicolas Quoy in Paris as a partner, to further build out its Digital Economy practice, as part of the continued expansion of this offering across Europe.

With more than 25 years of experience in tech, Nicolas Quoy covers the full range of IT/IP and Data/cybersecurity matters, for clients and providers, including high profile transactions and outsourcing (ITO, BPO). He advises on all types of digital projects, such as Cloud and SaaS, AI, Big Data, IT services, security, software license, data protection, copyright and trademark, disputes and pre-litigation.

Nick Elverston, global co-head of Ashurst's Digital Economy practice, said: "We are so pleased to welcome Nicolas Quoy to our global Digital Economy practice. It is a particularly exciting time in the digital economy, with phenomena such as the rapid evolution of AI driving an increase in commercial transactions and M&A, as well as important developments in regulation and, ultimately, the possibility of increasingly complex disputes which will only be resolved with the help of experienced advisers. Our French digital-infrastructure practice is already humming, Nicolas' hire adds several significant new strings to our bow."

"Nicolas' dual background and experience, as a private practice lawyer and in-house legal expert, is undeniably a major asset when approaching matters, especially in relation to sensitive matters of data protection and AI and the cloud. Nicolas’ arrival will allow us to enrich our full-service offering, which is of utmost strategic importance, these digital matters in the broadest sense are at the heart of the concerns of our clients, who need to tackle new contractual and regulatory requirements to frame their digitalization projects ", added Philippe None, managing partner of Ashurst's Paris office.

Nicolas joins Ashurst with senior associate Antoine Boullet. Antoine is a graduate of Université Panthéon-Assas and Science Po Paris. He provides advisory and litigation support on all legal issues relating to information technology, personal data, intellectual property, e-commerce and media.

Nicolas Quoy commented: "Building Ashurst's Digital Economy practice in Paris is an important project given the rapid growth in the importance of the sector and I'm grateful to Ashurst for the trust it has placed in me. With Antoine, we intend to give our clients a pragmatic and secure framework for their projects. This will enable them to meet the new tech and data challenges which companies are facing, while allowing them to benefit from Ashurst’s global platform, in a world where the digital economy and the international development of our clients in this field is growing at high speed."

Nicolas Quoy joins from August Debouzy, prior to which he was a partner at an international law firm and regional legal director at Hewlett-Packard Enteprise. His hire brings Ashurst's Paris office to 20 partners. Nicolas' hire, following Ashurst's recent digital economy partner hires of Alexander Duisberg in Munich and Sunny Kumar in London, further boosts Ashurst's growing platform to advise clients on digital economy related matters at national, European and global levels.
