David is Ashurst's global head of utilities and specialises in the acquisition, development and financing of power and renewables projects globally.
Over the past decade, he has worked on well over 40 power projects across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North and sub-Saharan Africa. His expertise includes advising the UK Government, sponsors and funders (both commercial banks and export credit agencies) and he had widespread experience of conventional (gas, coal and oil), renewable (solar, wind and tidal) and nuclear power projects. His expertise spans both project development and acquisition, as well as complex multi-sourced project financings. David's recent work has included advising the Government of the Solomon Islands on the Tina River hydropower project, JBIC, EKF and the commercial banks on the Moray East offshore wind farm in the UK, China General Nuclear on its investment in the Hinkley Point C nuclear project, as well as advising the ECA and commercial funders on the Shams Ma'an PV solar project in Jordan and ACWA Power on the Noor II and III CSP solar plants in Morocco.
