Managing a major safety incident
One-day workshop
When a major safety incident occurs in the workplace, there are serious implications for an organisation – from managing the immediate health and safety and other needs of your workforce, to managing other stakeholders (such as the media) and the legal risks that may arise from the incident.
Often the way in which an organisation responds to, manages and investigates the incident, can significantly improve the outcomes for the organisation. Our one-day workshop introduces a process to assist organisations to manage the various issues arising when a major safety incident occurs, while also managing the legal risks inherent in any major safety investigation process.
Recommended for: Safety practitioners, senior managers, human resource practitioners, in-house counsel and anyone who conducts safety investigations, including those who want a general overview or refresher
Learning outcomes
At the end of this program, participants will understand:
- The many issues that are likely to arise and that will need to be managed when a safety incident occurs
- Steps an organisation can take before a major safety incident to plan for managing that incident
- Legal issues arising from major safety incidents
- Responding to investigations conducted by regulators and safety authorities, including regulators' rights and powers
- Ways in which to conduct an internal investigation in a way that also manages legal risk; and
- Legal issues impacting on how to conduct internal investigations, such as video surveillance, taping conversations and legal professional privilege.
We can also work with you in advance of any training to conduct a gap analysis and review your policies and procedures.
