Dr. Simon Groneberg is a senior associate in our energy, resources and infrastructure team based in the Frankfurt office
Simon focuses on advising national and international clients with regard to the implementation of energy (conventional and renewables), hydrogen and infrastructure projects (e.g. fibre networks) as well as on advising strategic and financial investors with regard to regulatory aspects and environmental risks in an M&A context.
He has particular experience with renewable energy projects (e.g. offshore and onshore wind farms, solar power parks or biomass and geothermal plants), electricity and gas networks and energy storage. Simon advised on a number of project developments and transaction in the energy sector with regard to energy regulatory and permitting aspects and the underlying project agreements (e.g. direct marketing agreements or power purchase agreements).
Simon also advised on general public law aspects and supports our real estate team with regard to public building law and permitting aspects.
Simon is the author of various German publications and author of three of the leading German commentaries on energy law.
Prior to joining Ashurst, Simon has been working in another international law firm in Dusseldorf with a focus on energy related matters.
