Sandford Clark AM is a consultant in our projects practice

Sandy has practised and taught in the area of resources, environmental and government law for 50 years. He advises on issues relating to water, Crown lands and re-structuring government business enterprises. He is an expert in the area of legislative drafting and interpretation and the legal, institutional, commercial and legislative issues associated with the water industry.

Since 1969, he has regularly advised Australian governments, aid agencies and developing countries on legal and institutional arrangements for land and water management, and the legislation necessary to implement those arrangements – most recently, in South Africa.

Sandy is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Melbourne where he was formerly Dean of Law and Harrison Moore Professor. He wrote his PhD on Water law and administration in Australia and has taught in the United States and Canada. In the 2017 Australia Day Honours, Sandy was appointed as a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia "for significant service to the law, to the development of water management and legislation, and to legal education".
