Michael works on energy, resources and infrastructure projects and transactions across Asia Pacific, working with clients in the following sectors: energy and power, mining and resources, oil and gas (including LNG, LHG and NH3 and all related infrastructure and delivery options), public infrastructure and transport (infrastructure and operational, including ports, logistics and trade, rail and road), iron ore and steel, waste and water.
Michael is equally at home working for developer, financier and government clients across each asset class on any project or transaction, including working on joint ventures, M&A, privatizations, take privates, commercial contracting of any kind, project delivery contracts of any kind, and regulatory. Michael is praised by clients for his first class legal mind, the depth of his knowledge across multiple industries, the speed at which he works, and his "keep it simple, outcome driven, approach".
As well as running a thriving practice, Michael is a prolific author and speaker, at the moment particularly on all aspects of progress towards net-zero, including energy transition and hydrogen. Over the last four years Michael has published four articles on ports, eight articles on waste, and over fifteen articles on net-zero, energy transition and hydrogen. In addition, Michael has run over 60 training sessions for clients, from "black letter law" to commercial and technical sessions, including on net-zero.
