Conrad Ruppel

Dr Conrad Ruppel is a partner in our regulatory and contentious practice

He advises in particular national and international financial services providers, fund managers, institutional investors and banks. Conrad’s practice covers all fields of investment law and financial regulatory law, including anti-money laundering, outsourcing, distribution as well as laws on new technologies/digital assets and sustainability.

Another advisory focus are corporate governance matters, internal investigations and directors' liabilities issues, in particular of financial service providers and banks, in both regulatory and civil proceedings.

He studied laws and economics at the University of Bayreuth in Germany and holds a Master's degree from the University of Waikato (LL.M.) in New Zealand. In addition, he obtained a doctorate in law (Dr. iur.) at the University of Bern, Switzerland, for his thesis in the area of investment and corporate law. He was admitted to the German bar in 2014.

Conrad is a lecturer at the ILF (Institute for Law and Finance) at the Goethe University Frankfurt and at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences in the field of financial regulatory law.

Prior to joining Ashurst in 2021, Conrad has been with the German law firm Hengeler Mueller. In addition, Conrad has been seconded to Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, where he worked in the legal, corporate governance and regulation departments.
