Celebrating outstanding achievements in people management in the legal sector, the judges commended Ashurst's ' joined up, multi-strand approach to driving social mobility in recruitment' and having introduced a 'bold and far-reaching' solicitor apprenticeship scheme.

Ashurst took the award for Best Social Mobility Initiative for its work to better align early careers recruitment with the firm's outreach programmes. It was a collaboration between the firm's Early Careers and Social Impact teams, which saw the creation and launch of a number of initiatives to provide a direct pathway into Ashurst and a profession in law.

The firm's solicitor apprenticeship scheme also won the Best Apprenticeship Initiative award. Ashurst's apprenticeship scheme offers an unparalleled opportunity for school leavers to develop their skills and legal knowledge from an early stage within a highly supportive working environment.

Alison Hardy, Dispute Resolution Partner & Head of the Social Mobility Network, commented:

"We are delighted that People in Law has recognised our efforts to address barriers to access to law and supporting early careers talent. It is wonderful recognition of Ashurst's strong culture of support for social impact and enhancing social mobility across the UK. Our legal apprenticeships are one of the many ways we can create a more diverse workforce and ensure that talented young people have the opportunity to succeed within the firm."
