Partner Chris Bates, a partner in our Digital Economy Group and Ashurst's Head of Strategic Sourcing, was named Digital Champion of The Year, following on from his success of being named Legal Advisor of the Year at last year's GSA UK Professional Awards. British Business Bank plc and Ashurst together won the award for Best Partnership Response to Covid-19 for their work on the Future Fund, and Ventilator Challenge UK (in respect of which Ashurst advised key client McLaren) took the award for Best Collaborative Response to Covid-19 following the emergency design and manufacture of ventilators by the consortium during the first national lockdown.
Chris Bates commented:
"It is a great honour to be recognised again at the GSA UK Professional Awards. The relationship between strategic sourcing and the digital economy is critical; sourcing is key to accelerating digital transformation, which now more than ever must be an absolute priority for businesses across all industries. I am especially pleased that our projects with British Business Bank, and McLaren in Ventilator Challenge UK, have both been recognised – the work of both of these organisations has been incredibly important in the UK's overall response to Covid-19, and each is thoroughly deserving of the recognition they have gained from the GSA."
Organised by The Global Sourcing Association (GSA), the industry association and professional body for the global sourcing industry, the GSA UK Professional Awards recognise the best examples of innovative and creative work in the strategic sourcing industry.
