Ashurst wins at The Asian Lawyer Emerging Markets Awards
On Wednesday 18 November The Asian Lawyer's annual Emerging Markets Awards were held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore. The awards recognise the top lawyers and firms servicing the ASEAN region and India, and reward the most innovative and creative deals.
Ashurst was awarded 'Energy Deal of the Year' for the US$2.8 billion Donggi-Senoro LNG project in Indonesia, acting for the lenders along with our Indonesian associate firm Oentoeng Suria & Partners.
Singapore oil & gas Partner Daniel Reinbott commented, "This landmark project is the first LNG project to be successfully developed and financed by sponsor and lender groups that are solely from Asia. It is also the first Indonesian LNG project to be financed on a true limited recourse basis and to adopt the split upstream and downstream development model. Because of the many unique characteristics and challenges of the DSLNG project, it is very well deserving of the many accolades and awards which it has received, this being the latest one. We are very grateful to JBIC, NEXI and the coordinating lenders, Mizuho and BTMU, for the opportunity to support them on this transaction. Our extensive involvement in this award-winning project, with Ashurst as international counsel and our associate Indonesian firm, Oentoeng Suria & Partners (OSP) as local counsel, showcases our strength and teamwork in Indonesia as well as in the LNG and oil & gas sectors."
This category was amongst the astonishing 10 nominations Ashurst received for our work across finance, energy, project finance, infrastructure, M&A and cross border litigation.
Thank you to Singapore Office Managing Partner Keith McGuire and Partners Daniel Reinbott, Andrew Digges and Ben Giaretta who attended the event to represent the firm and accepted the award.
