Ashurst sponsors and hosts the 4th Annual Australian FinTech Awards

    On Thursday 1 August, Ashurst hosted the 4th Annual Australian FinTech Awards in Sydney. The awards celebrated the achievements and successes of the people and businesses comprising the FinTech sector.

    The keynote speaker at the awards was Todd Forest, Managing Director, nabventures.  Todd spoke about the opportunities from fintech and the challenges to traditional banks.

    There were 16 award categories with Ashurst sponsoring the major award of the evening, the FinTech StartUp of the Year, which was awarded to NOD, a natural language artificial intelligence platform helping businesses in the financial advice and accounting industries to transform how they serve clients.

    The award winners were:

    FINTECH INNOVATION IN PAYMENTS – START-UP (1-24 MONTHS OLD)
    The winner was Split Payments.

    FINTECH INNOVATION IN PAYMENTS – ESTABLISHED (24+ MONTHS OLD)
    The winner was Afterpay Touch Group.

    FINTECH INNOVATION IN WEALTH MANAGEMENT (ROBO ADVICE)
    The winner was Frollo.

    FINTECH INNOVATION IN LENDING
    The winner was Wisr.

    BEST FINTECH COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN
    The winner was Xinja Bank.

    BEST FINTECH-BANK COLLABORATION OF THE YEAR
    The winner was Brighte.

    FINTECH LEADER OF THE YEAR
    The winner was David Hyman, Lendi.

    FEMALE FINTECH LEADER OF THE YEAR
    The winner was Van Le, Xinja Bank.

    FINTECH CTO/CIO OF THE YEAR
    The winner was James Han, Checkbox.

    INSURE-TECH STARTUP OF THE YEAR
    The winner was daisee.

    REG-TECH STARTUP OF THE YEAR
    The winner was Arctic Intelligence.

    BEST USE OF AI IN FINTECH AWARD
    The winner was Brighte.

    BEST FINTECH & NON-BANK COLLABORATION OF THE YEAR AWARD
    The winner was Data Republic.

    BEST PROPTECH STARTUP OF THE YEAR
    The winner was BrickX.

    INTERNATIONAL CONQUEROR AWARD
    The winner was Afterpay Touch Group.

    ASHURST FINTECH STARTUP OF THE YEAR
    The winner was NOD.

    This was the fourth time that the awards were hosted at Ashurst with over 150 people in attendance.
