Ashurst took the award for CSR Innovation (Collaboration) for 'creative:engagement', a six-weekly arts project, launched in partnership with arts charity Create in 2017, to address the overwhelming need for long-term initiatives that bring vulnerable older people together, helping to reduce loneliness and social isolation.
The firm was also recognised for its role as one of the founding members of the 'Greece Collaborative Project', which won the CSR Innovation (Multi-Firm) award. Ashurst, alongside Orrick, Dentons, Allen & Overy, White & Case and Charles Russell Speechlys, and two non-governmental organisations, European Lawyers in Lesvos and Refugee Legal Support, formed the 'Greece Pro Bono Collaborative' Project to help with the current access to justice crisis for asylum seekers in Greece.
Sarah Morton-Ramwell, partner and global head of pro bono and social impact, said:
"Ashurst is proud to have a strong culture of support for social impact and pro bono, and are delighted that Legal Week has recognised our efforts to bring innovation, creativity and new thinking to the legal sector. These awards are testament to our commitment to supporting our wider communities with ongoing broadscale collaboration and resource deployment during times of crisis."
Hosted by Legal Week the awards aim to recognise innovation in the legal sector and precedent-setting, game-changing projects and initiatives.
