Tony won Native Title Partner of the Year. As the joint Practice Head of our national native title practice Tony has led innovative thought leadership campaigns on evolving aspects of native title law, including the emerging issue of compensation entitlements of Aboriginal groups in respect of the historical extinguishment of their rights. Our native title practice has been the only practice ranked Band 1 in Chambers Asia-Pacific since that practice area has been included in the directory in 2007. Ashurst is the sole Band 1 ranked firm in native title for the current edition.
Jeff won Planning and Environment Partner of the Year. Jeff advises on all aspects of environmental, planning and climate change law and acts for a wide range of public and private sector clients in the energy, resources and infrastructure industries. In addition to performing strategic work for leading clients, Jeff is also the Partner representative and chair of the Melbourne office Environment Committee.
Regional head Australia Phil Breden said: "Congratulations to Tony and Jeff on winning Partner of the Year awards for 2017. It is great recognition of their excellent track record, and reflection of our team's commitment to providing the best outcomes for our clients."
The awards recognise the outstanding performance of partners who demonstrate a high level of leadership, technical expertise, mentorship and business development skills within their respective fields, with six Ashurst partners shortlisted for awards this year.
