Celebrating excellence, achievement and innovation in PPP across the Americas, the judges commended Ashurst's "efforts to support novel uses of the P3 model in the US" and the US projects team's "ability to promote the development of P3 as a model across different asset classes".

The firm also received recognition for advising on the DC Smart Street Lighting project, which received the Best Social Infrastructure Project and also the Best Energy Project award. A team led by partners Andrew Smith and Matthew Tague advised Wells Fargo and TD Securities, the bond underwriters, on this 'first of its kind' P3 project.

In addition, Ashurst was recognised for its work on the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management P3, which was named Best Financial Structure. A team led by counsel Ross McKinnon, and including partners Anna Hermelin and Jason Radford, advised The Metro Flood Diversion Authority in Fargo, North Dakota on a Design Build Finance Maintain P3 model to deliver a 30 mile flood diversion channel - one of the only flood diversion channels in the world to be procured as a P3, and the first in North America.

Anna Hermelin and Betty Cerini, Co-Heads of Projects, Americas, commented:

"Infrastructure is a sector of strategic importance for Ashurst and ones in which we have great strength. To be recognised by the market in this way is a fantastic achievement for our US projects team, and a fitting testament to the team's dedication and expertise in this field.

"This has been an outstanding year for our US projects practice, during which we have advised on some of the most complex and ground breaking projects in the market. We also continued to strengthen and deepen our capability to deliver major projects across the US with growing offices in New York and Los Angeles and the launch of a new office in Austin. We remain committed to consistently providing the highest quality advice to our clients, and continuing to grow our business."
