Wear it Purple Day is designed to show LGBTI young people that they are supported, celebrated and respected exactly as they are. The day aims to raise awareness about the challenges LGBTI young people face and by wearing purple, communicate support that everyone has the right to be proud of who they are regardless of sexuality or gender identity.

Today Ashurst staff are encouraged to wear purple and the Australian,  Hong Kong, Tokyo and UK offices will host morning teas with a purple theme. The firm's global network of offices is also raising money for their local LGBTI organisations.

Ashurst diversity & inclusion manager Kasey Zun said: "We are proud to promote inclusivity and acceptance by wearing purple across our network of offices today. Our support for Wear it Purple Day recognises that Ashurst is a proud employer of LGBTI staff and through the LGBTI strand of our diversity and inclusion strategy, are working to create a supportive and inclusive organisation for all."

The firm's Spectrum network provides a means for both LGBTI and non-LGBTI members of the firm to socialise and discuss relevant issues to LGBTI staff.

The day is organised by Wear it Purple, a student run, not-for-profit organisation based in Australia.
