Ashurst advises Transport for London on Silvertown Tunnel project

The Silvertown Tunnel Project will see the construction of a new twin-bore road tunnel under the Thames in east London that will link the Greenwich Peninsula and Silvertown.

Work on the £1 billion new twin-bore tunnel, located within the Ultra-Low Emission zone, is expected to begin next year.

Once open in 2025, the tunnel will help to reduce congestion at the Blackwall Tunnel, provide new cross-river bus routes in east London and improve the reliability and resilience of the wider road network.

Ashurst worked closely with TfL's in-house legal team on all aspects of the Project.
