International law firm Ashurst has advised Sydney Metro on their contract with Lendlease to design and build the Victoria Cross Integrated Station Development in North Sydney, in support of the Sydney Metro City project, Australia's biggest public transport project.
The Victoria Cross Integrated Station Development project includes the design and construction of Victoria Cross metro station, a 230-metre commercial office building overhead, with approximate gross floor area of 60,000 square metres and approximately 4,000 square metres of retail area, and a public plaza creating much needed public amenity and space.
The new station will include:
- New bike parking near the corner of Miller and Berry streets
- New kiss and ride bays on Berry Street
- Existing bus stops close to the station retained on Miller Street
- Wayfinding signage and Sydney Metro information within the North Sydney CBD
- A traction substation integrated into the station building (partially underground)
- Enhancement of pedestrian infrastructure around the station (still under further investigation and consulted with Roads and Maritime Services and North Sydney Council)
Works are due to commence early 2019, with the Sydney Metro service to start in 2024.
