Ashurst advises Capital Alliance on A$250m project
Ashurst has advised Capital Alliance on its A$250m Docklands Residences and Marriott Hotel project.
The project is "The Docklands Residences", the first purpose-built Marriott hotel development in Australia in 20 years.
The hotel project will include both a 200-room Marriott Hotel and 88 private residences. The architecture of The Docklands Residences, by DKO Architecture, presents a new landmark of luxury living inspired. A highlight of the development will be the sweeping infinity pool overlooking the Melbourne skyline.
Ashurst acted for Capital Alliance in relation to both:
- Property aspects, led by projects and real estate partner Jason Cornwall-Jones. Innovative features included covenants protecting against hire of the residences through online shared accommodation-style services, and;
- Banking aspects, led by banking partner Kenneth Nguyen.
The partners were assisted by senior associates Gaby Stach and Laura di Roberto and lawyer Tom Allen.
Capital Alliance Chief Executive Mohan Du comments: "The Docklands Residences is a premium address for a premier location. The project combines modern hotel architecture with residential apartments that embrace hotel style living, and will be a valuable part of The District Docklands precinct."
Partner Kenneth Nguyen adds: "We are delighted to play a part in a landmark project that will be integral to Melbourne tourism. The five-star hotel is Marriott International's first new build hotel in Australia in two decades, and we look forward to seeing our clients vision come to life as construction continues."
