On Thursday 19 July 2018, Ashurst and the Equal Rights Trust held an event to launch their joint publication "Navigating Human Rights Complaints Mechanisms – Rules, Tools and Resources" with a foreword by Sir Nicolas Bratza, the former President of the European Court of Human Rights.
"Navigating Human Rights Complaints Mechanisms – Rules, Tools and Resources" contains summaries of the complaints mechanisms of the most important international human rights bodies and the scope for NGOs to intervene in, or assist with, individual cases. Ashurst and the Equal Rights Trust have a long-standing partnership and the publication was conceived in response to requests for support with procedural issues from the Trust’s partners around the world.
The event was a big success, with a large number of representatives from international NGOs, human rights organisations and the legal community attending. In introducing the publication, Simon Beddow, Ashurst's London Managing Partner, commented:
"I am immensely proud of this work. It is very much our hope and aspiration that it will become a useful tool and a reference point to all practitioners involved in the enforcement of human rights globally."
