It’s the people who make the culture. The partners in particular are great managers and good mentors. They are all robust litigators, but they’re open-minded and always value my comments. They encourage me to take up responsibilities and explore different areas of law, and they give me inspiration on how to shape my career. Even as a trainee, you get the chance to work closely with partners and do real and challenging legal work such as taking part in client meetings, attending court hearings and drafting important documents.

The work and clients at Ashurst are excellent; we work with multinational companies and financial institutions and tackle all kinds of high-profile cases. We make it our job to understand our clients' needs and their perspectives to deliver constructive and insightful advice. I’ve spent a short time working in the Sydney office, which gave me the chance to better understand the local clients and working practices. It all expands your horizons.

I’d say we have a very modern culture. As an international firm, we have people from different countries and cultures working together, and consequently we place a high value on diversity and the working relationships between colleagues. Also, partners truly care about your career development and personal well-being. They work closely with you to help you realise your potential, build your career and help you grow personally and professionally.
